The Mountain Goats Announce New LP
John Darnielle’s long running songwriting project The Mountain Goats will release their 15th studio album Transcendental Youth on October 2nd via Merge Records. According to the press release, the album will feature a full horn section, which sounds pretty exciting. Darnielle has been experimenting a lot with his arrangements recently, such as on the barbershop quartet-influenced “High Hawk Season” from last year’s All Eternals Deck, so the enhanced presence of horns on this record should be interesting.
John Darnielle has always had a particular fondness for awesome, occasionally bizarre song titles, and this album is no exception to that. “In Memory Of Satan” might be the best Mountain Goats song title since “The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton”
